Sindhi Biryani (recipe, how to make it) updated 2023

It is a unique type of meat and rice biryani dish that has arise from the province Sindh, Pakistan. it is one of the most consumed dish in the Pakistani cuisine.

Ingredients:

Following are the ingredients that are used in cooking Sindhi biryani:

  • ½ cup oil.
  • 3 medium sliced Onion.
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon.
  • Chicken ½ kg.
  •  8-9 Black pepper corns
  •  One Star anise
  • Two Cinnamon sticks
  • 4-5 Cloves
  • one Black cardamom
  • Four Green cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • Red chilli powder one or ½ teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon
  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  • Salt 1 and ½ teaspoon
  • Bay leaf one
  • Yogurt ¾ cup
  • Tomatoes cubes 3 medium
  • Green chillies 4-5
  • Plums 5-6
  • Green coriander handful
  • Mint leaves handful
  • Lemon juice 2 tablespoon
  • (Rice) basmati Sella ½ kg
  • Potatoes boiled 2-3
  • Fried onion
  • Lemon juice 2 tablespoon
  • Yellow food color ½ teaspoon
  • Onion fried
  • Oil 1 tablespoon

 

How to cook:

To cook the special Sindhi biryani follow these steps:

  1. Add ½ cup of oil in the sauce pan
  2. Then add 3 medium sliced onion into the pan
  3. Fry until the onion color is golden brown
  4. Take out half of fried onion
  5. Add 1 table spoon of ginger garlic paste
  6. Mix well
  7. Add ½ kg chicken
  8. Fry until chicken changes color.
  9. Then, add 8-9 Black pepper corns, one Star anise, two Cinnamon sticks, 4-5 Cloves, 1 black cardamom and 4 green cardamoms.
  10. Add 1 one teaspoon of cumin seed (zeera).
  11. Add red chili powder 1 or ½ teaspoon.
  12. Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon.
  13. Add 1 teaspoon of garam masala powder.
  14. Add 1 teaspoon of cumin powder.
  15. Add 1 teaspoon of coriander powder.
  16. Add 1 or ½ teaspoon of salt.
  17. Add one Bay Leaf.
  18. Add ¾ cup of yogurt.
  19. Mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  20. Add 3 medium tomatoes cubes.
  21. Mix well.
  22. Add 4-5 green chilies.
  23. Add 5-6 plums.
  24. Add handful of green coriander.
  25. Add handful of mint leaves.
  26. Mix well.
  27. Cover and cook for 6-8 minutes.
  28. Take out half of the cooked chicken and gravy.
  29. Add 2 tablespoon of lemon juice.
  30. Add rice (basmati sella) ½ kg (soaked and boiled with whole spices and salt).
  31. Add boiled potatoes 2-3.
  32. Add the cooked chicken and gravy.
  33. Add fried onions.
  34. Add 2 tablespoon lemon juice.
  35. Add remaining cooked rice.
  36. Add ½ teaspoon of yellow food color.
  37. Add fried onion.
  38. Add 1 tablespoon of oil.
  39. Steam cooks 10 minutes.

Delicious Sindhi biryani is ready.
